MOTORSPORT
PHOTOGRAPHY
Brands Hatch
By far my favourite and most enjoyable shoots so far! I was able to take my first ever Motorsport photographs and get a real understanding of what these events are like and how important positioning is when it comes to taking top level photos. Being able to go onto the grid was definitely up there as one of the most enjoyable parts as being up close and personal with the Touring Cars is incomparable to not only seeing them from afar or on TV, but to anything I've experienced before; especially when engulfed by what felt like a living, breathing paddock. Overall, I have gained a significant amount of confidence and experience from this opportunity and cant wait to do similar things in the future!

This was a shoot was done with the UOG Karting society for a personal photo essay. With this in mind, as well my previous experience in shooting motorsport photography at Brand Hatch, ensuring I captured a narrative within my photographs was imperitive to a successful shoot. I feel as though I was successful in doing so, as i captured action shots, shots where the drivers analysed their lap times, and shots of the end of sessions. With this shoot also being for a photo essay, I had to be conscious of including negative space in my photos so I could include text, as well also being conscious of the gutter if I were to print these images as a DPS (Double Page Spread)
